Andre Rieu: Why I love Australia

Dutch conductor and classical violinist Andre Rieu is an unlikely superstar, yet Australians flock to his every appearances by their thousands.

This week, Andre's newest single Waltzing Matilda shot up the Top 40 charts, taking out the No. 1 spot, while his six-CD box set, The Most Beautiful Melodies, sat firmly at No. 12 giving Rieu two CDs in the Australian top 20.
In Australia for a short promotional tour, Rieu travelled around Australian and was greeted by queues of, in some instances, thousands of fans.
In November, Rieu will hold three concerts in Melbourne where he will perform inside a full-size replica of Empress Sisi's Viennese castle. The set will take about 100 stage builders seven days - working 24 hours a day - to put together.
